My wife uses Videoget, a free app for downloading Youtube videos to her iPad from the Apple Store. I think.

Thanks so much for that quick reply lastlid. It seems to be a facebook app.
I don't have any facebook (true)
I checked it out but it's completely outfoxed me :doh
Any further help you can offer on it?

I am sorry. My wife is busy baking a cake just now. She is the one that knows. I will ask her a bit later. She also seems to download music videos from youtube directly using another downloadable app for iPad....

A big thanks to all for some great tips.

Well firstly let me just say that I succeeded in getting the job done.

So a big thanks to all for some great help and tips.
I actually played around with quite a few applications but eventually it came down to the two that suited me best.

Here's my feedback:-

YouTube Downloader HD (http://www.youtubedownloaderhd.com)

Very simple to understand and to operate. No busy screens and controls just a couple of drop-down menu's, press the download button that's it.
Limited converted output (FLV, AVI & MP4)

Free YouTube Downloader (http://download.cnet.com/Free-YouTube-Downloader/3000-2071_4-75219434.html?tag=dre) (my personal favourite and the one I'll keep)

An even smaller programme, and even simpler. Just type in the video URL, decide which output format and quality level and hit the download button.
Quality is in 4 levels:- Standard Quality, High Quality, HD(720p) and Full HD(1080p)
Significantly more choice on output formats (including for iPhone & iPad)

Great job done thanks.

Google do have a point (although they've ruined youtube IMO).

Hopefully competitor video sites will offer a service with less intrusive advertising.

The video I downloaded was a personal family one, so no issues for me.
Unless by uploading personal content the copyright automatically goes to google :yikes:

Which is the case with facebook I believe:Erm:

Yes, a lot of people don't realise they're giving up copyright.

Some cheeky **** has put his name across a photo that I took and uploaded to the internet ages ago.

If you want to download music and covert it to mp3, this is a fast and easy way.

Just cut the youtube address of the video and paste it here.

http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

Click 'convert video'

After it converts to MP3 click 'download' :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Nothing new. Copying music has been going on for years. I remember recording songs from the Top 40 on the radio every Sunday via a cassette recorder when I was 11 years old.
