Ricky R and family will be in UK from Oman early next month, and they’re coming to Scarborough on Friday 10 August, just staying that night :).
Sorry it’s short notice but the date’s just been sorted. It would be great if any members – with or without partners – could make it for that night and weekend. This includes those who came in June, and those who couldn’t make it on that occasion.
Surely the weather will be good ( although it didn’t spoil our June weekend :xxgrinning--00xx3: ).
Please let me know as soon as possible . I’m including the links below, as before. The Highlander was good for meeting and accommodation last time but there’s a good choice.

I would like to come up again, but not sure if I can make it this time, but we will see nearer the time. But, whoever goes will have a great time meeting all your online friends and chatting to friends you have already met.
:)

We'd both love to come :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I'll have Carina put in a leave request today. :Jump:

Great news, really excited. Hope some more people can make it.

Unfortunately, I've booked out the entire Highlander Hotel for the night as I'm bringing the family across, and needed to bring babysitters (Grandparents). My wifes Filipino methods are rubbing off on me.

But there appeared to be a few other nice looking hotels around.

Any one else fancying a summers evening in Scarborough, a few glasses of wine and a meal in good Brit/Filipino company?

Carina's had her leave refused. :doh
Probably because she'd already booked the previous weekend for the Lancing beach Fiesta. Two consecutive weekends just wasn't a goer.

When do you arrive and when do you leave Ricky?

They do :xxgrinning--00xx3:. But several friends have already contacted me with their apologies - it's a busy time of year, and I understand the effort made by those who came in June :).
Because Ricky and family are already committed to staying overnight Friday ( 10 August ) I think we should keep that date for the evening meal. As before, I would like to confirm the numbers for our meal about a week in advance - whatever the weather it's Scarborough's busiest time of year.
Of course it's informal with no quiz :doh ( there's one in The Highlander on a Thursday evening :) ), but the friendships are definitely strengthened by meeting for real and networking :xxgrinning--00xx3:.

Any updates on numbers for Scarborough? Only two weeks to go, really looking forward to it.

I'm presently in the very middle of the Piracy waters off Somalia en-route home, although have two warship escorts and a few more tricks up our sleeves should anyone approach.
Home at the weekend, and then off to the UK next week :-)

I have had several more apologies from friends who can't make it because of unavoidable commitments - like being in the Philippines :). A few others have yet to confirm but at least they've been in touch :xxgrinning--00xx3:
As before, those who live nearest - apart from Rory - seem unable to make the trip to Scarborough :doh.
Those who did make the effort in June enjoyed it - this is your chance to meet Ricky, Marvie and other members :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I hope you have a smooth journey through those dangerous waters Ricky. How long does it take to go through to safety?

I am sorry but I can't make it up this time. But I hope our paths cross in the future :xxgrinning--00xx3:

No worries Steve. It takes around 3 days to pass through the entire danger area, although the highest risk area is little more then a day. The attacks seem to be getting further and further out, as they take on more resources, larger mother ships and become more organised.

The deadline for Friday has passed – it’s high season and difficult to make a restaurant booking less than 3 days in advance, and many guest houses / hotels have “ No vacancies “, despite the weather so far.

This sort of meeting does require effort to arrange – and far more effort / expenditure to actually attend. Obviously there’s many factors involved – distance, cost, and other commitments, which I fully understand. But they’re not formal occasions – the purpose is to meet for real, get to know members and their partners / friends / relatives better, and enjoy ourselves :) !

our meetings where ever they are Alan are well planned and always enjoyable, but it does take time from both sides and comitment also, the cost does come into it too, maybe we shall try to get up north sometime in the winter
