What is a Barrio Fiesta?

Basically, it's a celebratory event :xxparty-smiley-050: ... featuring Philippines' culture - including singing & dancing - [usually] held annually in towns or cities where there are sizeable Filipino communities.

Hi lastlid :) just want to add this in what Sir Arthur said :)

The ‘Barrio Fiesta’ is something everybody looks forward to. It means literally ‘neighbourhood-party’ and is something that happens in every town and area in the Philippines. Outside of the Philippines it is a chance for Filipinos to celebrate Philippine culture, find out more information about Filipino TV, music, food, property, balikbayan boxes, remittance, etc, find out what Filipino businesses exist in the community and catch up with old friends. The biggest date for many in the UK Filipino community is the Barrio Fiesta sa London :)

Cheers and cheers to Sir Arthur. We are a bit out on a limb in the Isle of Man and to my knowledge we have nothing by that name here, though there are are Filipino gatherings....

Hi everyone! I'm going to London for Barrio Fiesta 2012. Can anyone please help me find an affordable house to rent (I'm going to be with 7 people) for 22 days [June 25-July 16]? Preferably owned by a Filipino and quite near the Lampton Park or within the Filipino community at Earle's Court...

Thank you so much!

Hi Moi. Thank you so much! Do you know anyone I can talk to regarding a house rental? I'll be visiting UK for the Barrio fiesta and will be staying there for 16 days. I'm having a hard time looking for a place to stay and a hotel may be the last resort for me. Please reply. I badly need help; :(

Because of this? http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/news_mod_home/news_mod_year/news_mod_month/news_mod_show?year1=2012&month1=2&NewsID=50987

Im sure the influx of vistors to the park just to see the carpet bedding will mak all the difference:doh

Does anyone know if there will be one in Glasgow this year?

Well ... Glasgow's first Barrio Fiesta (which my wife & I attended) was held on the 3rd weekend in June 2009.

Then - in 2010 and 2011, respectively - the dates were moved to August.

However - to the best of MY knowledge - there has been no pubic announcement as to when [or, indeed, IF] this year's Festival is likely to take place. :icon_sorry:

Looks like I'll be needing my umbrella and wellies in York on Sunday. :cwm3:

ALMOST persuaded my son to go too....but says his Filipina ex-girlfriend will be there, so not keen.

If ex-girlfriends were a valid reason he wouldn't be able to go ANYWHERE in York. :NoNo:

Dear Fellow Kababayans,

I noticed your discussion thread of the Barrio Fiesta in London. I am reaching out to you because I am trying to promote and produce an event in London for Rex Navarette the Comedian. Do you know of anyone in the Filipino community that I may be able to reach out to regarding this possible venture? I know there is a market of Filipinos very interested in seeing him in London. I just need to know the right people to talk to, to help me produce the show.

The website looks terrific. It looks like it is going to be a fantastic event!

Good luck!
