set up a new router ,, tp link,
i tried to set it up as advised on a customer review, who said it was quite easy, and yes it was, but i had been told to set to PPPoE, i did this and tried several times to set the router up,:doh eventualy i set it to PPPoA, and bingo it worked like a dream,:xxgrinning--00xx3:

all the wirless and hub security is set and working, and set at (WEP-128bit)


so you puter experts here, please can you tell me,,,,,,,,

what is the difference between PPPoE and PPPoA ?:Erm:

and is there a difference in security between the 2?:Erm:

Was the review from the Uk and if so what ISp? From memory PPPoA is what is required on the majority of British ISPs.

thanks, iv sussed it out, though it was strange that my old router was set to PPPoE and worked ok

I believe the Point to Point Protocol Over Ethernet is common in ADSL connections and Point to Point Protocol Over ATM is common in cable like virgin media connections. I may of course be talking out of my :action-smiley-081: but I am sure thats the setup!

I'm on a roll today....:icon_lol:

yes that is pretty much what i found out by researching, :xxgrinning--00xx3:
