Bank Statements should be spread uniformly over the 2 years prior to your application, e.g., at say, 3-monthly intervals from the time of your arrival in the UK, up to the date of your application. These must be originals plus one xerox copy of each statement if you are applying by post.

However ... of all the supporting documents, the greatest emphasis is on providing Council Tax Billings - in your joint names - since those will serve as evidence that you have lived together as a couple, throughout. Likewise, tenancy/property lease/rental agreements, mortgage statements; also, utility bills such as gas, electricity and telephone accounts addressed to you both will play an important role in establishing the necessary proof - as will letters from your GP's surgery and/or other health professionals. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I think the bank statements only need to be for the last 3 months before the application is made. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

been thinking about that as well rusty:) and bit confuse if should be spread for that 2 years living here in the UK or as you said the 3 months before the application..as of early now am sorting all the paperwork to be included for app. as my date of application would be on 22nd of April..2013 and i make sure i kept all the bank statement..but would be more handy if only 3 months is fine prior to application:rolleyes::Jump:
