(WARNING: scroll past photos quickly if you do not like to see dead quarry)

As I am a country person I have a few 'country pursuits.'
Something I am able to do several evenings a week is shooting. I enjoy walking in the fields and interacting with the changing seasons in the fields.

Here are a few photos from last night:

RC (radio control) planes, helicopters and cars

Anything that can move under its own power.
I love to build my aircraft from plan, go fly them at the weekend, Don't seem to have the time at the moment since the little one was born but at four yrs now she is getting well into the cars and has two restored Tamiya electric ones for thrashing round the garden,

I've always fancied having a go at the radio-controlled models Phil, but like so many things...time, and other hobbies. :)

Tip for you:

When copying from your photobucket just left click on the 'direct' link, and then paste on to here using the same prefix and suffix as above.
Then your pics should appear on this page. ;)

tyhanks for the tip graham, sorted now,

Its a great hobby, building them takes a bit of time, but you can break em in no time at all,
planes i find easy to fly, the one in the picture will actualy fly backwards in a five mph headwind,
heli's are a different story, harder than the real thing,

check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W47SVUulLhA

As a pilot i have a 100% track record, i have never left one up there :xxgrinning--00xx3:

lol.

When I used to live up near Stockton on Tees, there was a farm with a proper 'full-time' facility for model aeroplane flying.

They had international competitive meetings there...incredible models and skills.

Also at Beverley Racecourse (East Yorks), on the Common every weekend.

I enjoy making and flying my own kites...especially in the Philippines where there are brilliant natural materials available for the frames (coconut leaf ribs....the ones they make into brooms :), as well as bamboo of course for larger kites.).

A couple of pics:

First pic is a Philippine traditional kite that I had the brother-in-law make for me. :) It is a 'powerful' kite, and I needed 2000ft of nylon shark fishing line and a lot of tuition to master the beast.

If you look closely on the second one you can see the kite (my home-made type) top left. I have actually had my smaller kites use up almost the full length of a 2000ft + line....with the thermals there. :cwm24:

Naturally I kept an eye out for low-flying aircraft ! :icon_lol:

......I enjoy making and flying my own kites...

When we lived in Japan we always entered the Kite competitions. (There's a lot)
Make you own kite and fly it in very stiff competiton. It's really so so popular.

Yep, always ends in drinking beer, eating food and karaoke.

There were some really terrific kites. Some really huge ones too.
In 2001 we actually got 4th place. I'm really so happy for that, simply because we were 'gaijin' with only a smallish (8ft across) homemade kite but managed to reach 4th place from over 50 entrants.
No prizes but great fun
By the way, the 'after-event' do was wonderful.:xxgrinning--00xx3:

I think :Cuckoo:

There's a really good and popular place for kite flying near our village here.
Every weekend, loads and loads of parents and kids flying their kites (or trying too)
fantastic bonding experience.

Kids trying to be adults, and adults tring to be kids. Perfect combination.

...And then there's those of us who never actually made the transition. :icon_lol:
