I'm currently going through all my paperwork to shred what I can dispose of (already upto bin bag No.5!!!), and some of it goes back to the 80's. However, I came across a receipt for a flight I made to Singapore in 1999 and this was considered cheap at the time.... how much??? £577.80 :cwm24: .... compared with prices I can get now 2011 is cheaper :cwm24::cwm24::cwm24:

Back in 85 I went to Fort Lauderdale with Virgin Atlantic.
The return flight cost 725.

This is the golden era for travel for the masses:D

In 1966, the cost of a late-night standby flight between London & Glasgow cost £2. 17. 6d ... the BIG snag being ... you couldn't guarantee a seat being available. But, if you paid a mere 10/- extra (which I invariably did!) you could pre-book. Single daytime fares between the two cities would set you back all of six quid! Changed days, eh?

 ... having said that ... just under 14 years later, a cousin of mine - living in the South - paid £99 Return for a 'Domestic' flight when she came up to Glasgow to attend our grandad's funeral ... whereas I was able to fly from Aberdeen to London for £9 less as recently as 2005!

To be honest, only 18 months ago I paid 299 return from Manchester to Hong Kong with Finnair.

I'm sure if we all drove to Romania we'd get a cheap flight to the Phil :D

The word Romania brings back nightmares, had a g/f from there at one point, and went to visit her. She was crazy, that was the point I said I'd never date an eastern european woman ever again, you have to be strong man!
