:omg: we all complain about spending £80 or £90 on a tankfull of fuel for our cars. Each Tornado sortie from the UK to Libya uses £30K of fuel

Well a tankfull of fuel for my car will cost at lot more than that. £140:yikes:
Maybe time for a change:)

As for the £30k of fuel for the Tornado to Libya ............................ Don't get me wrong on this but today my wife was told that one of her 'service users' (elderly person clients ----- she is a Carer-----) has had her care cut to only 15 mins care per day from now on due to cuts in funding. This lady lives alone and cannot even stand up on her own. My wife spends at least 1 hour per day looking after her (morning lunch and evening) but gets paid for 15 mins = £1.71.
I know what I think 'but sups to you the individual'
This is not an isolated case.

Sorry rant over.
So sorry Englishman, hope I haven't stopped your thread.

I have a Clio it has a 1.5 diesel engine. It does 60 mpg, goes like a rocket. Only £30 tax per year. It is an excellent little commuter and does my 60 mile round trip nicely each day. But... where I used to fill it up with £50 every 10 days or so, I now have to fill up with £65.:cwm23: I have tried driving slower, and it does make a difference, but I end up feeling frustrated and just like the type of driver I hate driving behind. Cant win, but I like the care, quite cheap to run, tax and insure.

And I ain't a bloody hairdresser ..... before anyone asks OK!!:NoNo::icon_lol:

Terpe is your car actually a lorry??? :D :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

I drive a 1.9TDI and costs me around £55 from when the petrol filling indicator comes on and that will last me 2 weeks. I have to say my driving habits have changed a lot, driving slower, braking slower. Though sometimes these habits go out of the window! :D

I'd love an S-Class, but you've just put me off:omg:

I'm stuck with my C-Class for a bit longer, it went in for a major 4 year service last week, and cost me more than my next trip to the Phil's :'( :yikes:

my last company motor was an AUDI A6 TOURING, got the TDIE ENGINE, did overall average 47mpg but nealry 60 on my daily 60 mile round m/w trip to work, great spec , low co2 only 139 so not bad on company tax. just got an old petrol Espace automatic for my honey when she comes back in a few weeks (she only drives auto an is used to our bus back home) but it does 25mpg in town :omg::omg::omg: and just cost me £118 to tax for 6 months. Still for £600 and with her probably doing about 50 miles a week she should be happy. Now what I am going to have next BM5 Touuring or mercedes 220 Touring hmmmmmmmm need to go and drive them. Now if Jaguar bring out what they used to call a shooting brake (estate) version of the XF I would be the 1st customer

I can remember my dads big zephyr , I think we may have had one of the above, not sure

gWaPito
23rd April 2011, 17:34
Dad also had a Zodiac straight 6. It was white with red leather trim, very similar to the Zephyr.

T he Westminster was an ex police car, it went like a rocket, I was 6 or 7 at the time.
The cornering was a bit flighty if I remember correctly. Many walnuts could of been cracked especially if dad had spent the day drinking. All 8 of us fitted inside as well. Not much call for seat belts in those days.

I remember all of us having to push it out of a ditch on the way home from a day out at Bournemouth, dad had one or a dozen too many sherbets as usual.

Dad wasn't much use on that occasion, he couldn't stand but, ok to drive :NoNo:

Ahh happy days.

Also from that story:

a single cruise missile is about £500,000.

Could've kept a few policemen and nurses in a job there :doh

Yep...unbelievable. :NoNo:

There'll be reasons above our peasant heads no doubt ( OIL ? Prestige ? Influence ? Arms sales ?).

It's still a slap in the face for the unemployed and those waiting for operations etc.

Are we going to waste even more money by interfering in every other upcoming revolt in the other Arab countries, and accept the hoards of refugees ?

According to Camron, we won't be accepting any war refugees from north africa. Much to the complaining and whining from the rest of Europe. Italy especially.......shame:icon_lol:

Bit harsh calling people "vermin" who are desperate and trying to escape unimaginable conditions in their home countries. Call the politicians "vermin" who made life in the UK so accessible and easy, but those trying to escape to a better life :NoNo: If your family was in danger I'm sure you do the same.

It's rags like the Daily Mail that encourage this kind of attitude, deflecting the anger away from those who made it so.

It certainly aint a "humanitarian" effort as they'd have us believe. I think the majority bought into the "blame the last labour govt for everything" mindset that they'll turn a blind eye to anything this lot are doing.

Personally I don't read any newspapers(comics), but I AM quite sure that a good proportion of these immigrants and so-called Asylum Seekers are merely parasites who haven't the guts or the inclination to make changes in their own countries.

Yes, I care about my family and my way of life (if we're comparing selfishness with selfishness), and that's why I see this influx of total 'unknowns' to be a threat to OUR country in so many ways.

Charity begins at home, and we've now done enough of helping out every other person in the world with a hard-luck story.

Let them go home and sort their own mess out.

Walaytawo
25th April 2011, 13:09
True, but it's only natural to want to strive for a better standard of living and get there the quickest and easiest way possible. The average Joe has no chance in a third world country of making a difference to the overall politics, economy, corruption etc.

It's a complex situation immigration, made even worse by how easy it's been made for them by the powers that be. I find it so baffling that we still give billions in aid to countries, but think nothing of axing jobs in the UK and making cuts all over the place. Yet most just accept it as, "it has to be done after the mess labour left us in" :doh

Totally agree, charity begins at home :xxgrinning--00xx3: especially when there's so much that needs fixing.

I suppose some on here might be a little more sensitive about the subject, given the trials and tribulations WE'VE had to go through in order to get our loved ones here the LEGAL way. :)

For sure, another absurdity. When you think how easy Albanian gangsters and the like just walk in, it must rile the hell out of those who just want to be together and will always abide by the law of the land.

I have noted that it is not just our governnment who heavily tax fuel, just paid 5.25 Zlotys (£1.21) per litre still a 15p cheaper but not that much. A few years back on beer runs to France when I lived near Portsmouth I would go over nearly empty and fill up my diesel Audi at the hypermarket for around 50p a litre cheaper. By the way anyone got any names for a curreny funnier than the noble Zloty :icon_lol::icon_lol:
