Senior financiers in the City have reportedly claimed that Ferguson was backing the controversial bid, with some sources even going so far as to suggest that the United manager was prepared to bolster the Red Knights' planned takeover of the club with his own money.
But an angry Ferguson retorted: "It's absolute rubbish, not an ounce of truth in it."
