Question please....

I now have my ILR (Independend Leave To Remain)

Does this mean that I am UK RESIDEND.?????

I want to take out life insurance and they all say....
"ARE YOU A UK RESIDENT"

Thanks in advance

for the purposes of immigration law it is a person who has indefinite leave to remain in the UK endorsed in their passport and who ordinarily resides in the UK. For tax purposes it has a different meaning.:xxgrinning--00xx3:

As I see it, Liza ... you've been granted 'Indefinite Leave to Remain' in Great Britain - which is tantamount to 'Permanent Residency' here - and, therefore, to all intents and purposes [including for life assurance] you ARE considered to be a UK RESIDENT, albeit not a British Citizen. So there shouldn't be a problem! :NoNo:

Ordinarily resides is the key point here. If you are living in the the UK with a non-visitor visa (spouse/ILR/work/etc) then you are a UK resident.

(Having a British passport doesn't mean you are a UK resident)

If you look at the new ILR insert in your passport at the top it will say "Residence Permit" and at the bottom it will say "Type: Indefinate" so you are most definately a UK resident.
