It's totally random words in various messages, but if you hover over them,
it's a link to a search engine (not to the search facility for this site).
Seems either the site, or our PCs are compromised.

It is so called "context advertisement" guys, can't do much about it - except as noted by MeAndWifey (Nick - if I remeber correctly?) use FF with AdBlocker...
Or ask BOSS to get it out from here:D:CompBuster:

No need for virus scan:NoNo: doesn't help you to get a rid of them as they are embedded in the site as it is...

Ok, I don't know where the links come from, but I just got rid of a few of them by clicking on the "edit" button and then "save", without changing the text or doing anything drastic.
And after "refresh" the links didn't come back.

Pain in the :butthead:...

You can simply just ignore them! :doh

They appear different for everyone as it selects random words each refresh.

I would say thats not a particularly succesful beta.

In the past Ive tended to aviod sites that do that, as its too easy to accidentally click a link and get sent to a driveby site.
I'd rather not have to avoid this forum. Can they get turned off? or at least have the option?

The links seem to be almost completely random and not even targeted to the words or phrases they're hyperlinked from!

:Hellooo: Bye then :Erm:

You're not the one paying £3,600 a year for servers!

The forum already has over FIFTY live links per page, every page, Infolinks just adds a few more. So if the others haven't 'annoyed' anyone in the 8 years they have been on here, then neither should the new ones. 1000's of people hit this site each week just passing through, and it is those they are targetted at to get a few shekels.

Same here, those links can even be helpful as you can go to related topics quicker, makes searching and browsing easier :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Besides, this forum has been very useful and helpful to all the members and even guests, not to mention fun as well
and the best part is, it's free for all....so it wouldn't hurt to have some gratitude :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I don't mind them at all as I can't see them in my FF with AdBlock (sorry BOSS) but I can say they are definitely working in PC based IE and Safari on Apple...
As far as it earns some dough - keep them on....
