Climbing Snowdon
Have any of our members climbed up Snowdon, and if so, which way did you go other than up? .
Plus how long did it take to get to the top and back again?
I do know there is a train you can take and also there are about 6 different tracks to take to get to the top, but having never climbed up it, I am unsure if it's something me and Emma can manage.

Haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting Wales ... far less climbing Snowdon. But I do recall the four concluding lines of a song we had been taught in our music class at school, around 60 years ago.
Set to the popular Welsh marching tune, 'Men of Harlech', they were as follows:
"Tramp up Snowdon
With your woad (war paint) on,
Ne~er mind if you're rained or snow'd on.
Never need a button sewed on;
Go it ancient B's!"
B's, of course, being an abbreviation for Britons.

I climbed it aged 15. Never been so knackered in all my life. From what I recall it took 4 hours to reach the summit but it's been over 30 years since that day so don't take that for gospel.

The hard bit is getting a day with nice weather when it is lovely, but if it is cloudy/raining it is pretty grim. If you can find a weather window then set off early and enjoy. I would choose one of the easterly approaches rather than walk up the main track from the station carpark, but you need to plan where to leave the car etc. Note: The train may be full and not allow you to board for the trip down btw. So don't depend on it.
