    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37005457

These greedy lot award themselves 10% pay rises and workers on the shop floor get 2%

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/07/11/news...c-pay-workers/

At long last Theresa May seems willing to act on these obscene salary payments

Of course everyone else is making do without a raise... er, hang on...

    http://order-order.com/2016/08/04/60...council-staff/

Poor Council, has to make cuts. Not everywhere it seems.

Big business has to explain their pay raises and fund them from profit/loss. The Council has to fund them out of our roadsweeping, public toilets, bin collection and lesbian crisis centre funds.

... not to mention all those pitbull terriers and litters of kids to be fed out of benefits and food banks. Sadly, it seems the council's education budget was wasted on them too.

Just imagine, it would be lovely to be able to have an obscene salary for one year in our life

What do you define as obscene? Is it a figure x times the pay for junior grades at a specific company - so for example £250k for a hospital manager vs £15-25k for cleaners, basic staff etc. Or is it just a big number - for example £250k as an employee at Goldmann Sachs? which is the salary for someone with just a few years experience there and is the 'going rate'.

I'd suggest both are obscene in their own way, but at the same time where salaries are performance related and they meet the goals who is at fault?

Well, if one were a socialist, I suppose one would say that some of these pay 'packages' are determined by how much can be creamed off the top of the 'community' finances (community being the other 99% of the population who must muddle along at the mid-levels or the bottom of the pond... usually as an accident of birth).

I think the term I am looking for is GREED.

I wonder how many of these heroes of the city and the blue chip companies would be prepared to take a percentage of the losses too, should things go the other way.

Well said Steve, like you I started at the bottom and worked my way up. Why is it people resent the boss earning more
I get a dividend when the company does well, however if the company doesn't perform I get nothing. Have to wonder if those complaining would be willing to work on the same basis

I think percentages are unfair. For example bosses start on far better wages than normal employers. If we get a £20 a week pay rise it should be the same for them. Just my thoughts. After all we are all in this together.

Well I did work for many years commission-only self-employed (I mean like 20+ years).

No get out of bed and do job perfectly = no money ... minus expenses.

Quite right, we are in it all together so as you're talking about percentages then why does £20 equate over both pay rises?

I said I think percentages are unfair. My boss was moaning about his 1%. I replied I will have 1% of your £60,000. You can have 1% of my £20,000. It all went quiet for some reason.

1% of nothing is nothing, whilst i dont mind so called Bosses making profits, what i am dead set against is Bosses having massive salaries, and at the same time paying minimum wages, only to have the Tax payers subsidise the low wage earner through Working Tax credits..as for being in it together the only thing that might apply to is bed..

You just don't get it do you

People don't mind if these executives get paid more and good luck to them
What people don't like is the sheer amount these greedy executives are getting paid
Workers on the shop floor are lucky if they make 30K and in the boardroom it runs into many millions

Now carry on defending the morally indefensible fat cats people like Martin Sorrell on 70 million a year

    http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/...kage-1-7954023

Even the shareholders are getting sick of it

Of course you don't like the unions and thats because they highlight what you greedy lot are getting paid in the boardrooms and also they force you to pay the workers more !

    https://www.rt.com/uk/355063-executi...ality-figures/

Even the present Tory government is willing to act on this greed but you reckon its all just fine

Rubbish most people in your position still get a very high salary

Outrageous and excessive earnings thats why people resent it

Share those dividends throughout the workforce not just inside the boardroom

I suggest we start with union and charity bosses. Union bosses seem to be the ultimate fat-cats, currently disturbing the lives of many people with various rail strikes (I support the train drivers but I don't agree with the strikes on Southern or planned for Eurostar - which will hit holidaymakers). I think politicians are generally paid the right amount (esp if you consider their pension which is probably too much).

You can hardly call someone earning 150k a year a fat cat

Fat cats are these earning an average of 5.5 MILLION a year

    http://highpaycentre.org/pubs/10-pay...atll-do-nicely

As for the southern dispute its all about train operating companies fighting each other and overpaying the government to run a franchise and then looks of ways to save money

Single manned trains are all fine until something goes wrong and then you have 1 person trying to deal with over a 1000 passengers = making safety announcements putting down emergency protection for the train and trying to evacuate the train all at the same time
By reducing the guards role to an non safety critical onboard ticket seller he cant help with any of the above

According to our well informed press its just about who opens the doors

The Eurostar dispute goes back many years and the RMT are just making sure that Eurostar sticks to its promises it made many years ago

    Eurostar ?

Haven't we blocked up the tunnel yet ?

I agree, trains need at least two properly qualified staff.

If the driver is injured in an accident ?

Don't care if a lot of trains are already running driver-only.

'Two wrongs don't make a right'.

Would we be happy to have one pilot on a plane... and nobody to show us how to get out of it if he turns it upside down on landing ?
