    "Happy" Christmas

Heard yesterday that Harlene's Sister (who works in Finland) has got her visitors visa approved to come visit us over Christmas. So she will be here from 18th Dec - 6th Jan so as you can imagine Harlene is over the moon.
Also her Mum has an appointment Monday 7th to apply for a 6 month visitors visa.... Not to sure she will get it... But fingers crossed...

Well Harlene's sister arrived last night, thismorning we heard her Mum got her visitorsvisa approved. So now we are trying to sort her an airline ticket to get her here for xmas.

She got a 3 year multiple entry visa, which if I am right in saying means as long as she doesnt stay longer than 6 months and then leaves for 6 months, she can visit as many times as she can in three years.

    Merry christmas.

    Good news slip. Well done.

It's not as strict on frequency and length of visit as you've suggested. There's no UKVI mandatory time between UK visits.

It's been the same case for a number of years that there is no immigration rule or any other regulation that imposes any specific limit on the number of visits you can make to the UK.
Also there is no specific immigration rule that stipulates "6 months in any 12 month period" or any immigration rule which states that a visitor must "leave the UK for the same length of time as your previous UK visit before before being allowed to re-enter".

But it is the case that visitors must not "...live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK their main home"

    However, here's the rub
Immigration staff at UK ports of entry have full discretion to decide whether to grant UK entry or not visitors.
This is made on a case by case basis at the time of arrival.

Based on her reasonable travel history I personally very much doubt that she'll encounter any problems to enter UK for multiple visits but it's really down to the Immigration Desk Officer to decide based on his view of travel history.

Here's what the current consolidated Immigration Rules for Visitors states:-

    Genuine intention to visit

V 4.2 The applicant must satisfy the decision maker that they are a genuine visitor. This means that the applicant:

    (a) will leave the UK at the end of their visit; and

    (b) will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK their main home; and

    (c) is genuinely seeking entry for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes (these are listed in Appendices 3, 4 and 5); and

    (d) will not undertake any prohibited activities set out in V 4.5 – V 4.10;
    and

    (e) must have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to their visit without working or accessing public funds. This includes the cost of the return or onward journey, any costs relating to dependants, and the cost of planned activities such as private medical treatment.

    Hope that helps

Well we got a ticket for Harlene's Mum to come. She arrives Tuesday morning for 6 months... Hopefully immigration will not object to anything on arrival.
We paid more than we wanted for the ticket, but obviously one would this time off year. We opted for Qatar at £750 return as opposed to China southern at around £700 As I know Qatar operate 5 flights a day into Heathrow, which if for any reason she gets delayed she has a chance to get on the next flight. China Southern only operate once a day in the afternoon, miss that connection and she waits until the next day. We also looked at Philippines airlines which is a direct flight, but that was around £850....

So looks like my one bedroom flat is going to be full very soon!

    Merry Christmas.

I'm back in London for a few days. Was a nice drive down. Even had time to sit in the middle Lane of the m1 for half hour and rest whilst the traffic decided to standstill.
