Surely the system is at fault? Not these poor people trying to make a better life for themselves or feed their families back home in sand land. Imagine their family waiting, hoping, not knowing.

Poor people ? Families back home ?
We know NOTHING about them.
They are chancers committing criminal acts before they even enter our country !
If you are worried about them, there are charities you can give to who will help them.

How much is it costing us all now in extra manpower or time for policing, courts, council staff, border force, etc etc etc ?
Entering the country illegally.
Working illegally.
Living in illegal and overcrowded accommodation.
Not paying taxes.
Driving without licence or insurance...and causing road accidents and holdups all over the country.
Committing crime such as begging and stealing.
Committing fraud.
Raping because of lack of access to 'normal' women, under the cover of anonymity.
Bringing contagious diseases into our country such as TB and HIV.
Any more ?

Sometimes I get the impression this forum is populated by bigoted late-middle-aged men with no view of their own other than stereotypes. Yes, some immigrants are bad, but just think, they're trying to escape France
The problem is our country too far too PC to fix the core issues.

If that's what you think I am, just have the balls to say so.
Frankly, I don't care.
It is my opinion and if you don't like it ...tough.
Us 'bigoted late-middle-aged men' (since you mentioned stereotypes) are expressing a view formed from extensive life experience, so please show a little respect and don't be so insulting, just because that view doesn't happen to coincide with yours.
If the board owners don't like it, then they can boot me off here.

There's nothing bigoted about wanting to live in a nice country predominantly populated by my own race and not surrounded by vermin and filth many of whom entered the country illegally and have been allowed to stay by the spineless liberal elite who govern us. Remember Bottler Brown called that lady in Rochdale a bigot and look what happened to him.
I'll put my hands up to being a middle aged patriotic Englishman who wished he'd emigrated to Australia years ago

....and not least, making it harder and harder for an ordinary law-abiding and conscientious British Citizen to bring into his or her country of birth his or her lawful spouse !

Yep I agree with all that's said. What I would say is these people often are not trying to escape persecution, they want the goodies on offer over here. If not, why don't they stay in France? It's ok saying we should not be so bitter - tell you what, if anyone on here wants to let some of these chancers over here out of sympathy then let them live with you and please post the pics for us to see

Unfortunately you are correct, if all they wanted was a more secure life they could have stayed in Italy or France and not bothered to come to Calais....

It's not about being nasty or anything but at the end of the day they add nothing to this country and so often take and abuse what people have worked so hard for to build a better future for our children and grandchildren - they are my priority!

The problem with France and nearly all other European countries is that as 'ethnic' immigrants have no chance of making anything of themselves. Yes I know some come for the free ride, but many just want to make something of their lives.
I'm not defending the UK benefits system one bit. But I fully understand why they would choose the UK.

As I and others have stated before the vast majority of the detritus are males under 30ish who have abandoned their families and children leaving them at the mercy of the cruel regimes they purport to be fleeing from. As Les says in #18 above anyone mug enough to feel compassion for them should welcome the rubbish into their home - same goes for anyone who doesn't regard the "travelling" fraternity as scum of the earth. Turning to the Syrian & sundry muslim so called "refugees" why aren't they heading southwards to the wealthy muslim gulf states and Saudi ???

Good news another parasite bites the dust
A teenager has been found dead on the roof of a Eurotunnel train, police have said.
The body - thought to be that of a migrant trying to reach the UK from Calais - was found by police at 4.13am on Thursday on the loading bay of the vehicle shuttle service.
