I'm sure you can...but you need to get some sort of temporary visa at the airport.

Some one who's done it will be along soon.

Unless rules have changed recently, British passport holders need a visa.
Normally you'll receive a free 30 day visa upon presentation at an immigration entry point.

I've done it with friends waiting for me and driving me back to the airport on an 5 hour transit connection. It was rather tight after getting through immigration and returning to the airport to find large queues then progressing through security and immigration again.

Personally, I wouldn't do that again since most of the time was spent getting in and out.
    Not exactly a relaxing time.

But with 6 hours transit time it might be worth checking on the current requirements and official timings for getting in and out without luggage.
I guess it depends what you want to do in the city.

As always a personal choice once you have the latest facts.
I would imagine security is much tighter these days.

-same as philippines -30 days on arrival ,you dont mention any times of arrival/dept but presuming it might take up to 1 hr to get thru immigration -travel to city and up to 3hrs for getting back -2 hrs before flight -what are you going to do /see in 2 hrs? we had 9 hr stopover there before -got to the hotel for 2 hrs and then back airport .
