    New affidavit of marital status

Hi, I am filling out the new affidavit and it asks for place and date of marriage. My girl friend says we can't book there until I have marriage license so how can I put a date and place? I thought a license was valid for 6 months and we could arrange a wedding any time within that time?

4 months (I think) Rick ... ... but someone's likely to correct me if I'm wrong!

I just did the affidavit in November

We couldn't be sure of an exact date as we had to wait ten days for the marriage licence.

They said it was ok just to put November 2014

We put the place of marriage as Cebu city not the exact place of marriage like the venue.

    Hope that helps.

Well, there you are, Rick ... you couldn't get any more up to date than that!

    Thanks Cheekee.

Could you tell me, did you leave the the information all ready on the template and put your details at the side of it, or did you remove it and just leave your details??

I put my details next to some parts i.e. name and dob and put "not applicable" to the parts that were not applicable to me like date of divorce or annulment. Hope that makes sense.

Sorry, what I mean is, it says surname. Did you put your surname next to it or remove it and put your name?

    Sorry forgot to say.

Put the year after the month you are getting married.

    Not just the month.

    Just slightly off topic:

I am applying for my affidavit in January. Someone at work, who married in the Philippines a few years ago, has told me that they needed to post the notice in the Embassy for 2 weeks before the affidavit could be released.

Is this the case, or has he got confused with the 10 days for the release of the marriage certificate?
