    British GP at Silverstone tomorrow.

The F1 drivers say it's one of their favourite tracks, but personally I find it a hard one to drive on the Xbox...mainly I think, because it's so flat and featureless.

Anyway, I had a quick go on the GP circuit this afty, in a Gumpert Apollo 'works', which is a very quick car.

I use a steering wheel, pedals, and manual 'paddle' gears on the wheel.

It would have probably have been better if I'd altered the gearing to suit those long straights.

Never seen anything like that Graham, never seen these games that people play with!

It's very realistic if you have the right setup Michael...and challenging.

I have the wheel attached to the little table-type thing I made. It then pulls towards me and over my knees as I sit on the sofa. Doesn't move about then. You can feel 'feedback' from the wheel, which has electric motors inside it. Very sophisticated.

The pedals I've mounted on a flat board, which hooks under the front of the sofa so that you can push hard with your feet and nothing moves around. All screwed and bracketed.

I race against people from all over the world, online. You can communicate with them on the headphones and mike during the races. Great fun.

(I have a later model Xbox now... than the white one in the photo).

You can drive some interesting cars (and set them up to your own specs), like this Shelby Cobra I was driving this evening, trying to better my lap time in it at Brands Hatch.

Unfortunately youtube really degrades the picture quality, which is much more realistic on the TV.

Here are the times given after the timed lap:

I'm the 1 min 29 secs of course.

I thought you were in your 60's Graham !!!

I stopped using game consoles about 20 years ago when I found better things like girls and beer.

A lap of Road America... in the quickest car on Need for Speed Shift, but also the hardest to drive quickly.

I love driving, mainly because of the cars I drive. I see you are a TVR man Graham.

This is my current drive with the wife. Both great looking models.

    Some tasty machinery there guys.

I've given up that hobby now, otherwise I'd definitely have something a bit more up to date to show.

I still take an interest though.

Hmm...found this video of one of my previously-owned cars. One of the two in my ownership when I first joined the forum.

I think it is in Holland now. Exhaust looks a bit smoky. Probably running rich.
