    Blimey Les....that sound's massive ....

I just now did a test on my BT line and the line speed came out at 21.8Mb connection speed to my hub and then 13.8Mb from hub to laptop.

I thought my connection was pretty good.....

But don't you only get that 'supersonic speed' if you're accessing content hosted in the same area, on the same ISP's network.???

I don't know but it sounds so much more than mine......which I'm actually quite happy with

I just ignore the Virgin rubbish.

I'm supposed to have some sort of fast cable broadband.

It's pretty useless, and Virgin are full of like most of these marketing cowboys.

To be fair Graham, I have never had a problem with them, works perfectly and I don't get involved with the marketing guys.

Can't tell you till it's enabled Steve in next day or so, I can download an 85 mb album in a few secs so guessing nearly instant.

    Just tested mine.

    32mb/s download speed.

    1.01 mb/s upload speed.

That's through my wi-fi hub (though this PC is connected directly to it).

You don't really need that speed - but since I do a fair bit of downloading, it just saves me time.

I've got some dial up spares, including modems if you want them cheap Peter. ...from when I lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere (when I first joined this forum actually).

They're still newer than this computer.

You only need lots of speed if you have lots of pcs, ipods etc on at once and mainly if you download things like 45gb blu-rays

I think mine's fast enough for my needs, so I will not pay more to upgrade

Ah yes, that great day when I doubled the RAM on my computer from 16mb to 32mb.

The 1GB Hard Drive just about coped.

I used to have my internet set not to show images, so that a page wouldn't take half an hour to open if it had a few pics on it.
