    British citizenship applications made today

Just got back from the local registrars office where we put in the applications for British citizenship for my wife and step-daughter. Hopefully the last stage and big expense on immigration for us.

All we need to do now is sit back and wait!....what a relief!

Only the schedule for the ceremony is a long wait on my case I'm going to wait like 4 weeks. This is less stress of all the visa journey. I wish I didn't use the checking service it's very straight forward application.

... I have to disagree with you in that respect, because - at £70 a pop - it's well-worthwhile applicants availing themselves of the NCS facility, even if only for the sake of their peace of mind throughout the waiting process.

    Definitely!

I was quite glad we used the checking service as they did pick up on a couple of mistakes made filling in the forms. Maybe they wouldn't of made any difference but at least i have that peace of mind. Also we still have all our original documents as they just photocopy them so you can keep the originals.

Me as well just submitted my application for british citizenship/naturalization. Just like you, lordna, what is need to do is wait. I hope its not a long wait. I have a friend who just applied her naturalization, by using the NCS, she got the result in just 3 weeks.

After waiting for almost two weeks for the ncs to call me back for appointment i decided to do it myself. Got the confirmation receipt few days after i posted it. Some of the people i know who applied by themselves got decision within three weeks...so hopefully get mine very soon. If there would be a problem they would call anyway

    Well done.
Hope the wait will not be too long.

    You'll enjoy the ceremony

Yep, that's the end of the immigration journey and the last big money expense.
Everything that follows such as British Passport, Dual Nationality etc is very small cost.

Just for information so people have an idea of how long things are taking....we received today an acknowledgement letter from UKBA saying they have the documents and received the payment. We submitted the forms via the registrar on the 25th July today is the 5th August.

Hi Moy, yes it was 1547 for both of them BUT we also paid a fee for the checking service which was £126 for the two of them. It was worth it to know the forms went in correctly and we have all our documents as they copied them. Good luck with your application.
