    Use of slang and colloquialisms

Something I've been meaning to post for ages:

Can I suggest to all British guys that when communicating with your new Filipina friend you use plain English.

Think before you write or speak using slang or colloquialisms. The lady is extremely unlikely to know what the hell you're talking about, is she.

Bear in mind that it is customary in Filipino culture just to agree or to say 'ok' as part of 'face-saving'. Doesn't mean they've understood what you're 'on about'.

Hopefully you'll find your conversations moving along more smoothly and with less misunderstandings and confusion when you give your partner some consideration by sticking to simple English.

    .
pc.note:...Yes, also applies to women and their Filipino partners.

Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs!

American English helps, also... when I get the "blank look" from Manila taxi drivers, I just do my best Yankee movie star impression, and all becomes clear!
