My former school and workmate originally bought and named Ziggys. Still going strong.

My other mate was DJ at Intercon in Harrogate and Brummels in York.

I also knew Craigy of 'Craigs' and even Peter Stringfellow from the days of Cinderella/Rockefellas in Leeds.

I was a bit of a Jack the Lad in those days.

Border Collies. We had a Border Collie cross. Great dog!

That wonderful Collie was my close companion from 7 weeks to 15 years. I miss her to this day.

She was always in the car, office or shop with me, and yes, unbelievably intelligent.

Yup ... as a child in the 1950s, I faithfully followed the adventures of a Border Collie, 'Black Bob' in the 'Dandy' comic & the 'Weekly News', respectively. And , the breed - often used as a sheepdog - seems to be renowned for its high intelligence.

I also had the Annual...big influence on my choice of dog.

Her father was a champion trials sheepdog....and it showed.
The exercise did me good too...having a very active breed, but I found it very difficult to contemplate getting another one after she passed on.

Our Border Collie cross looked just like a Border Collie but was about 3/4 of the normal size. Great fun though.

Sounds soppy, but it still brings a tear to my eye thinking about that wonderful creature, so long after she went to doggy heaven. You do get very close to them when they're with you 24 hours a day for many years.

She even featured on my shop sign and business cards.

just been talking about getting a dog, my little gal wants a Pug, its only a couple of years ago i had to have our dog of 12yrs put down, she had used all her nine lives up in a few weeks, poor gal she had loads of things wrong with her , holding her to stop her struggling as the vet injected her was one of the worse memories i'll ever had, she fought and struggled for must have been 30 seconds, i said then never again

I can understand because my dog ('Fliss') developed a small mammary tumour when she was still a very fit and active 10 year- old.
It was an anxious time, but the vet was able to operate and take it all out without it having spread.

Yes they do wander Graham, I am just going to get my cats from the cattery. They will be pleased to get home again after 'their' holiday (either that or sulk for days lol)
