    Criminal record

Hi everyone... I just joined here! Desperately needing some advice!!!!!
I am travelling to Phil for 2 months to marry my Filipina girlfriend, & have applied for a 59 day visa, but I have a string of (mostly) minor convictions dating back between 1979 to 1987. Most of them are for things like being drunk, asking for money, or threatening behaviour. The most serious are minor theft, & 1 assault on police (in 1986). I decided to tell the truth for fear of being refused entry on arrival, & am now waiting to get a copy of my police record before they will consider my application. My question is, could these convictions prevent me from gaining entrance to Phil even though they are now approaching 25 years old? I have absolutely NO convictions for any sex, drugs, fraud, or serious violence.
Also, how much money do I need to have with me to support myself, & I've also heard that sometimes immigration expect you to pay some kind of surety too???
    Thanks for any help!

You don't really need to mention them as they have well and truly lapsed over that time.

Maybe the best place to ask would have been the Philippine embassy enquiring under an assumed name. Asking for money and threatening behaviour, if at the same time, sounds serious to me, but you seemed to have been a good boy for 25 years, you should have forgotten about it

I hope for your sake Dave Fergusson is not your real name as if you now Google it your online confession will be there for all the world to see.

I wouldnt worry about them mate, typical on-duty behaviour for a lot of Pinoy cops and politicians so dont lose sleep over them, there are some REALLY naughty westerners living and visiting Pinas and they get visas wothout problem, enjoy your trip

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Depends on the nature of the convictions, I suppose.

Anyhow ... I may be an ... but not that old, so as not to remember a pop melody from the mid-1980s.
