That's a nice link Jim. Thanks
Although I'm a true lover of piscine cuisine, Bangus has far too many bones for me.
If it has been carefully filleted then ............it's heaven!!

For me Tilapia takes some beating. Even compared to Cod.
I often wondered if Tilapia farming would be good business in UK

I watched that new pirates of the .. movie not long ago... they portrayed mermaids as being evil... they shouldn't be allowed to portray them like that!

I met a Pinay once who told me she had seen a mermaid, its an old myth that they exist, possibly fuelled by sightings of Dugong in the south of pinas?

It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

This guy is in a plane when he feels thirsty. So he calls for the stewardess and asks her politely for a Large Whiskey. There's a parrot in the seat next to him, who snaps, "A double Scotch and make it quick." "Yes, sir" the stewardess says, and quickly gets the bird his drink - but ignores the guy. The parrot downs his in one gulp, and says "gimme another." The stewardess gets him a second drink, ignoring the guy again. The guy, meanwhile has been asking for his drink very politely. He then decides to use the parrot's tactics and snarls at the stewardess, "You @#*$% hag, get me my bloody Scotch!" Suddenly a large co-pilot comes out of the cockpit and ejects both the guy and the parrot off the plane.

As they're falling, the parrot turns to the guy and says, "You know, you're quite brave for someone who can't fly..."

There was three guys that were fishing out in the ocean. After a while of not catching anything, one guy yells,"I've got something!" So they all rush over and help pull it in. They pulled for hours until inside the boat was a mermaid.
She plead for them to let her go and when they wouldn't , she said, " I'll grant you each one wish if you let me go.

    THe men agreed.

THe first guy said, Make me three times smarter than I already am.Poof, and then he started quoting shakespear perfectly.

The second guy seeing this said make me 10 times smarter. poof and then he figured out math problems that famous mathemations had been pondering for years.

The third guy said, make me 20 times smarter. The mermaid said, sir consider that carefully. He didn't listen to her and said, make me twenty times smarter!

And poof, he turned into a woman.

    Fugu Fish

Fugu fish is the Japanese name for Blowfish or Puffer Fish. They can actually 'puff-up' their bodies which makes them expand like a balloon.
Despite previous bad publicity, there are still quite a few speciality restaurants in Japan that serve Fugu. It's very strictly regulated and a licence is needed to buy and to serve it.

The reason is simply because Fugu fish are extremely toxic. Oddly though, it is considered a very special delicacy in Japan, and there are plenty of 'foodies' with a taste for both adventure and for eating this dangerously poisonous fish.

It contains extreme high levels of tetrodotoxin, a very powerful poison, which is claimed to be 1,200 times deadlier than cyanide with enough poison in one fish to kill about 30 people.

The preparations made before cooking or serving raw as sashimi are focussed on reducing the levels of tetrodotoxin and so making it edible. Even so, around 50 people every year have died eating it.
The symptoms in order of severity are:-

    Physical discomfort
    Pallor
    Dizziness
Prickling or tingling of the mouth
    Vomiting
    Diarrhoea
    Numbness
    Hypersalivation
    Sweating
    Weakness
    Subnormal temperature
    Hypotension
    Rapid weak pulse
    Respiratory distress/arrest
    Death

Personally, I didn't feel any effects until my lips started tingling and I couldn't drink my beer without dribbling it all down my front. That's when I stopped eating it.
Well it's waste of good beer.

There's actually no known cure for tetrodotoxin!
So if anyone feels they want to try this, better be sure that you go to a licensed restaurant and that go with someone who really does know about this fish, and importantly who you trust.
