Im surprised by that figure. To me, it seems like every man and his dog has got a fag on in Manila.
I wouldn't put too much credence in that figure and the same goes for the average life expectancy, they quote the average is 75yo
I find that very hard to believe as well

Those figures actually tie in with independent research by universities over the last decade, but they are climbing.... and life expectancy is about right, http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=...cy+philippines up from 67 in 1998. As usual with life expectancy figures it is the male that bring it down, lagging about 7 years behind females.

The average life expectancy is 76yo in the south west of England, that is the highest in the UK.
The north of England fare a lot less.
I don't doubt the sauce of your info, I just find it hard to believe.
When you look at the pollution over there, it amazes me people reach the age of 50yo when living in the big cities like Manila.
I'm looking at the average Joe, not just office workers who are more than likely going to live longer than the tricycle rider.
Then you look at the health care compared with the UK. You can't compare it.

The thing with the Phil is that the majority of people live outside the city, whereas in the UK they live in cities. We are an obese nation with one of the highest levels of heart disease, whereas the Phil has a healthy diet..... you have to realise that in the last few years the average life expectancy in the USA has levelled out and at some points over the last decade actually dropped!!
Healthcare has improved drastically in the Phil in the last 2 decades, and most do find ways of getting it, whereas in the USA the 10% of people with no insurance are the very ones dragging down the average life expectancy ..... go figure
Whatever you do, don't move to Zimbabwe .... And SA keeps going down due to AIDSKeith Driscoll - Administrator

The rest of them just love eating pig fat and they consume the stuff whenever they can..
Not sure what percentage of them die of heart disease but I would have thought its quite high.
