Congratulations and thanks for taking the time to post your advice. In a sense you're "preaching to the converted" because those who bother to join this excellent forum are already well motivated.

I have to say I admire those people who have the guts to do this, chat to someone online and fly into the unknown of the Philippines at whatever cost...
I never went through that process, met Marvie while we were working together in South America, and had worked with Filipino's since I was 17 (in fact when I was 20 spent 3 months on a ship in asia as the only brit with 15 filipino's and came home never wanting to eat rice or fish heads again!!!! I still shiver if I hear karaoke). So never was such a shock.

I'm a merchant navy deck officer, trained on heavylift/general cargo ships, then on cruise ships and now working on a superyacht (we've sailed about 3 weeks this year, 1 week of that was relocating from France to Egypt). Have been based in a few different places and know an Irish bar in most countries lol

Quite a few of us seafarers and expat workers end up with Filipina wives from the amount i've come cross in the Philippines and on here.

Sounds like you are in a better place in the world than I am at the moment! Stuck in Indonesia for weeks with no beer and no shore leave, still the weather is alright! What sort of leave rate are you getting?

If only! I'm just in an office off a kitchen display room. Most of the others are 2 floors downstairs and even then it's only 1-3 people! Just as well I can have the radio on or I think I'd have gone by now!
